Vote on resident notification – Whether to formally inform residents of a significant increase in waste management costs, and advise them to prepare for a higher rate bill.
Explore DOI involvement – Consider whether the Department of Infrastructure running the service might be a more cost-effective option.
Public input – Invite creative suggestions from the public, now that the two main options have been outlined.
It really is unbelievable that Harrods is shut and that the DOI has their head buried in the sand.

Many thanks,

P.S. I’m considering putting forward a proposal that our meetings be audio recorded.
Both options one and two were turned down. Option one was rejected because we haven’t had any costs from the site or accounts for about 7 months. I have personally submitted two Freedom of Information requests, and both were denied—each for different reasons. Apparently, they’re not obligated to share this information with anyone. There’s talk that the DOI may be looking to change this. I do intend to submit a third.
Regarding the second option: the Board discussed it and felt this was ultimately a matter for the WCAS Board to decide. Naturally, it raised the familiar point that “turkeys don’t vote for Christmas.” For the record, I was the only one in favour.
Public Input option – Recycling Site Concerns
It was agreed that this matter should be progressed by the WCAS Board. Mr. Anderson confirmed he would raise it with them. I was disappointed by this outcome. Personally, I would much prefer that the WCAS Board and the site manager focus their efforts on keeping the site open and ensuring full recycling options are available—rather than spending time responding to emails about what they should be doing.
In my original suggestion, the intention was that we arrange and hold that conversation directly.
As a footnote to this point: during the public session of our meeting on Monday (10th November), a Patrick resident noted that the site is obligated to offer recycling options, as this was included in the original constitution when it was formed approximately 12 years ago. More news to follow.
